Rider List - 25 days to go
Wednesday, 28 July 2010 00:00

The rider list is growing rapidly with a mix of the world's best snowboarders and the best of the locals. The snow conditions are not looking too good at this stage but the park crew assured me yesterday that regardless of what happens natural snow wise over the next 25 days they will be able to work magic with man made and build a course worth competing on. Stay tuned...

Space Invadas confirmed Tuesday 24th
Monday, 21 June 2010 14:48

Space Invadas are one of the most exciting acts to emerge of late. With 3 smashing radio singles under their belt, Space Invadas are being hailed by critics as the sound of 2010.

Creating a record that's conceptually intriguing and of world class quality, the duo have caught the attention of major influential tastemakers world wide; Gilles Peterson, Mayer Hawthorn and BBCs Benji B

Stepping off a hugely successful summer festival jaunt; Golden Plains, Future Music Festival, Days Like This, Sydney Festival, supporting Lupe Fiasco and soon to be main stage at Splendor In The Grass, Space Invadas have been busy since their debut live show at Stylewars in 2009.

Space Invadas is the brainchild of Katalyst and Steve Spacek. Both renowned artists in their own right, Katalyst is an internationally acclaimed producer and label chief hailing from Australia. Steve Spacek is a British soul legend who has been championed by everyone from Entertainment Weekly to Mos Def. The duo first worked together on the track “How Bout Us” for Katalyst's last album "What's Happening". The track went on to be in Giles Peterson’s top 20 tracks of 2008.

Their highly anticipated debut album Soul-Fi is a cosmic voyage into soul, funk, hip hop and beyond. Its swings between retro and futuristic with the greatest of easy. All three singles have all been on high rotation around the country and abroad with key tastemakers in Australia, London, LA and NY supporting the record on radio well before its release. Space Invadas LIVE is a 5-piece outfit with special guest featured in the show. The intergalactic band consists of drums, bass, keys, guitar, drum machines and other electronics. With Steve Spacek's Curtis Mayfield-like vocals outfront and the band backing him up, they take you on a journey into their world that is Space Invadas.

Look to the sky and listen… Space Invadas are coming

Calling All Cars confirmed to play @ Stylewars
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 15:00

Fresh off their tour with AC/DC Calling all Cars will be playing the opening night of Stylewars.

Our friends at Atticus are presenting Calling All Cars at Stylewars. Like The Presets, Airbourne and Space Invadas, none of whom where household names when they played at Stylewars, these guys will be a big deal in Aussie music in the years to come. Get to Falls Creek from the 22nd - 25th for them and more music and action than you will get anywhere else on snow in OZ this year.

Calling All Cars debut album instantly hooks you in. The power of the music and depth in songwriting make it hard to not be drawn into their brand of modern Australian rock. Sometimes sounding more straight up hardcore punk, sometimes leaning towards alternative, but mostly it’s balls out rock n’ roll. Within the first 3 tracks you begin to understand why the band got the call up as support to AC/DC recent run of shows in Australia.
Gaining a reputation through a solid live performances that has had alot of people take notice of the band, “Hold Hold Fire” carries that great live sound onto disc. Think early After The Fall, Kisschasy and Trial Kennedy and you begin to get an idea where their sound is coming from. Stand out tracks are ‘Disconnect’, ‘Not Like Anybody’, ‘Animal’ and ‘How Long’.
